About Yogesh Khetmalis
I am a synthetic and medicinal chemist with a broad research focus on designing and synthesizing biologically active compounds, particularly small molecules for drug discovery. My primary interest lies in developing agents with anti-cancer properties, specifically those that inhibit histone deacetylase (HDAC), as well as compounds targeting Mycobacterium tuberculosis. I have extensive hands-on experience in conducting multistep syntheses, performing bench-scale synthesis of various medicinal compounds ranging from milligrams to grams. Additionally, I am skilled in purifying compounds using chromatography and characterizing them through techniques such as LCMS, HRMS, and NMR spectroscopy. I am adept at conducting literature searches in chemistry and other journals through platforms like Google Scholar, SCI-Finder, Sci-Hub, PubMed, Reaxys, and others. I am proficient in performing in silico analysis of compounds through Molecular docking methods to comprehend their binding modes with the target, by utilizing drug design software such as Schrödinger and AutoDock. Additionally, I have expertise in assessing the ADME properties of molecules through the application of tools like SwissADME and pkCSM.
