About Minglai Yang

I am a 4.0 GPA Computer Science student at the University of Arizona, specializing in LLM reasoning, RL, interpretability. At CLULAB, I am luckily advised by Prof. Mihai Surdeanu on novel speculative decoding strategies with dynamic copying for large language models (EMNLP 2025 Oral) and investigate the “Physics of Language Models” with Prof. Liangming Pan (EMNLP 2025 Oral). My research at ML4AI LAB and IVILAB spans DARPA’s ToMCAT project (7.5M), advised by Prof. Kobus Barnard, where I integrate physiological signals (fNIRS, EEG) and behavioral data to enhance AI’s Theory of Mind. I am applying to PhDs and research opportunities in NLP, interpretability, and reasoning for Fall 2026. My goal is to develop LLMs that reason more robustly, efficiently, and transparently. If you’re working in this space, I’d love to connect! My Email: m•••••@arizona.edu
