ABOUT YLENIA SANTORO

Biomedical engineer/researcher with 10+ years experience in noninvasive/minimally invasive medical devices. Main areas: physiological parameters monitoring, breast cancer and colorectal cancer monitoring, detection and diagnosis. Extensive experience in simulating and modeling biomedical systems, modeling physiological variability, validating simulations using experimental data, biomedical optics and optical physics, applying statistical analysis to simulation models, modeling of light absorption and scattering (Monte Carlo simulations).Passionate about analyzing literature in different clinical/scientific areas, evaluate technologies to identify future needs, interact and partner with clinical personnel, and translate novel ideas into algorithms and products.I am a person with a positive attitude, open to confrontations and new challenges. I thrive on people interactions and new things to learn. I have a very diverse background that allows me to adapt my skills to different fields and learn very rapidly. My background expertise ranges from microscopy imaging all the way to the design of optical devices for clinical translation. As a computer and mechatronics engineer I have had some experience with DSP programming and control system design. I am always interested in expanding my knowledge with the goal of using it to keep improving people\'s lives.
