Most lighting is designed for what we see. I work on what light does to our body.I’ve spent more than two decades across the full arc of illumination:(1) engineering efficient electric light,(2) architectural lighting design for visual + emotional experience, and now (3) light beyond vision—how light influences human biology and daily performance.I’m Yike Pan, founder of heilys® (heilys.com) and a light researcher working at the intersection of architectural lighting, photobiomodulation (red/NIR), and health research.Modern longevity focuses on what we do—nutrition, movement, sleep, stress, mindset. These matter. But they happen inside an environment. Light is one of the most constant biological inputs we receive, and modern indoor life often gives us plenty of illumination—while still missing parts of the spectrum and exposure patterns our biology evolved with.heilys® develops healthy lighting systems that complement modern LED environments—adding a practical red/near‑infrared (red/NIR) layer for indoor life, in a way that is design‑ready and research‑grounded.
