About Yihan Dai

As an Android Developer at SmartNews, I am passionate about creating innovative and engaging features that enhance the user experience and deliver value to the business. I have developed local content features, location engagement features, and new local channel UI, using EpoxyRecyclerView, Coroutine, AccueWeather API, and National Weather Service. These features have increased the daily active users (DAU) for local US users, the location granting rate, and the user impression of the local channel page.Before joining SmartNews, I was a tech leader at Yahoo, where I implemented a Yahoo private search app called Onesearch, with privacy-focused features such as no cookies, no history, no user tracking, keyword encryption, and pure, unfiltered results. I also built a native search android SDK that provided a rich and native search experience for displaying direct display cards, web, video, image, and news search engines, with search assist for Yahoo super app and Yahoo fantasy sports app. I have a Master\'s Degree in Computer Engineering from Columbia University, where I did some projects on developing apps using Android, Xcode, and computer networks. I have strong skills in leadership, research, and project management, and I am fluent in English and Chinese (Simplified).
