About Yoselin G.

Looking at the mirror I see the first person to start college in my family, a motivated young individual, someone who’s willing to give her best at what she does. Throughout the years, I grew to have a passion for technology and was amazed by how it worked. I never really understood why I couldn’t focus on something else like cosmetology, nursing or teaching. All those careers are great, but I never felt a connection to any of them. Growing up I took computer classes, and in my free time I would take apart old computers my dad would bring to me. Those were some of my happiest moments. I also learned that it\'s just not about computers being taken apart, technology has different roles such as: Information Security Analyst, Web developer, help desk etc, I became more fascinated. I knew automatically I had to improve on my communication skills and my public speaking skills to get to reach my goals. My previous job experiences have taught me how to increase my communications skills significantly. As a service attendant I had to learn how to properly serve tables and communicate with customers daily. I am currently a full-time student at Year Up, where I am given the opportunity to expand some of the skills I know about technology. Year Up is a one-year program that recruits young motivated individuals to reach their potential and provide a stronger future. The program itself will help me achieve the skills that will help get out of my comfort zone. It excites me to know that the IT program is going open so many doors for me and will provide the necessary support I need to succeed. One of my many goals is to keep improving as an individual and put my skills to work and learn the best that I can.
