The Civil Service Commission (CSC) is a group of seven Reno citizens who serve a five-year term. It is an independent, self-governing body that works to make sure there is fairness in all aspects of the selection and retention process of City of Reno employees. They do not create positions or make hiring decisions, but help to build equity into the hiring process.“(The CSC is) responsible for the process through which people acquire and hold jobs within the civil service,” according to a City of Reno CSC PowerPoint.The CSC also provides an independent review panel for employee appeals. I am a senior higher education leader focused on building student-centered systems that promote learning, belonging, and student success. I serve as Interim Vice President of Student Services and Executive Director of Student Life at Truckee Meadows Community College, where I lead strategy and cross-campus partnerships to strengthen retention, engagement, and holistic student support.Grounded in both scholarship and practice, I hold a Master of Science in Education from the University of Nevada, Reno and am currently a PhD candidate. My leadership is data-informed and centered on strengthening institutions so students and teams can thrive.Beyond campus, I serve as Vice Chair of the City of Reno Civil Service Commission, as a Trustee with Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful, and on the Board for Northern Nevada Pride, reflecting my commitment to community and public service.I believe in education as a force for access, community as a source of strength, and leadership as a way to build bridges.
