ABOUT YERALDY RAMIREZ-ESTANISLAO
I am a first-generation Latina student at the University of Wisconsin–Madison pursuing majors in Legal Studies and Chicane & Latine Studies, with certificates in Criminal Justice and Gender & Women’s Studies. My academic work is grounded in a strong interest in the intersection of law, policy, and social justice, particularly as it impacts immigrant communities. I have developed experience in both legal and community-based settings, where I have worked directly with diverse and underserved populations. Through my role at a law firm, I provide bilingual (Spanish/English) client support and assist with legal documentation, strengthening my ability to navigate client-facing environments with professionalism and cultural competency. In my volunteer work with Voces de la Frontera, I have presented “Know Your Rights” and solidarity trainings, helped individuals complete power of attorney forms, and supported community members at outreach events. These experiences have reinforced my commitment to making legal information accessible and empowering individuals to understand and exercise their rights. Additionally, I have engaged in community outreach through canvassing and advocacy efforts, further developing my communication skills and ability to connect with people across different backgrounds. Across all of my experiences, I have consistently worked in bilingual spaces, ensuring that language is not a barrier to accessing critical resources. My long-term goal is to become an immigration attorney and advocate for immigrant communities through both legal representation and broader systemic change.
