As an Advanced Development Engineer at Heil Environmental for over three years, I contribute to the research and development of technologies that enhance the strength, longevity, and weight optimization of refuse vehicles. My role focuses on failure analysis, optimization, and stress analysis to improve materials and structural design processes. By designing and testing advanced methods, I aim to support the organization\'s goal of delivering innovative and sustainable solutions in vehicle manufacturing. My prior roles include providing engineering support for over 30 projects in the amusement ride industry as a Mechanical Engineer II at Celtic Engineering, Inc. and conducting significant research in biodegradable medical magnesium as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of South Florida.

   Research existing and new technologies to improve the strength, longevity, and weight of refuse vehicles. All technologies new or existing are for further developing improved, faster, stronger, and lighter refuse vehicles. Designing the tests for testing those materials and applications- Structure fastening research and development. Responsible for reviewing different processes for fusing metals and designing The Heil Co.\'s own way to fuse metals together- Research new materials to be used to build refuse vehicles and test the refuse vehicle built with the new materials. Ultimately determine if the materials are sufficient for use in refuse vehicles- Perform failure analysis of welded structures on refuse vehicles through Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to determine whether the cause of a structural failure is due to quality control issues from suppliers or failure from an engineering design standpoint- Develop validation programs that evaluate the newly developed technologies- Act as a key point of feedback for engineering processes and standards to assure that world-class warranty levels are achieved. This includes developing and maintaining standards for design- Oversee and review testing protocol to ensure that technologies are properly validated. Review Standards for testing such as ASTM and designing our own test standards and validating that these new technologies are tested correctly according to different standards and the standards that are developed at Heil- Serve as a subject matter expert in structures and related fields- Actively participate with manufacturing and operations in early builds to assure that key specifications for successful assembly are included for designing new product at Heil- Help develop engineering standards for other engineers at Heil to follow, in order to reduce warranty liabilities.
