ABOUT YASMIN SHEIKH
A skilled informal and formal educator with experience of working in diverse communities for 15 years including managing staff and projects. I have a wealth of experience working with vulnerable young people who are identified as being marginalised, disengaged and known to the criminal justice system. I have delivered training and taught lessons to professionals and young people around Youth and Community Engagement, PSHE, Identity, Citizenship, Equality and Diversity, Leadership training, Managing Challenging Behaviour and basic English and Maths. I am a dedicated and passionate person who enjoys working with people and supporting them to reach their full potential. KEY ACHIEVEMENTS • Successful delivery of short courses to 16+ who have previously been excluded from education and known to the criminal justice system for over 10 years. • Managed and delivered a conference for over 100 young people in partnership with multi agencies • Have delivered presentation on ‘Effective Engagement with Challenging Young people’ at a conference in Rotterdam (2010) and Paris (2013) • Contributed to the development of the Youth service Behaviour Policy • Delivered presentation at a conference for the Runnymede Trust on a Citizenship Tool kit designed for schools and youth projects • Presented a Youth show with inner city young people (2012) discussing a wide range of issues • Guest speaker on a community radio show discussing issues affecting young people and parental skills.
