ABOUT YASMIN SHAHEEN-ZAFFAR
As the founder of Watoto Play® (I describe myself as a social entrepreneur) and a neurodivergent BACP accredited creative trauma therapist - I’m passionate about individuals & communities live to their full potential - especially the SEND community.Watoto Play we specialise in offering specialist neurodiversity support to organisations and individuals in the form of one to one therapy, workshops, group programs and neurodiversity training. I founded Watoto Play as a way of making therapy ideas accessible, especially to the neurodivergent community by creating therapy resources that are visual, engaging and fun. As much as I value therapy - my personal opinion is that psychoeducation is a crucial tool for well-being. At Watoto Play we talk about our resources being “trauma informed and beyond”. Meaning that, although I know we can’t eradicate trauma 100% however - through psychoeducation, we can reduce its impact. Our brands include Glad We Talked®, Polyvagal Teen®, Talky Talk Cards™, Scribbledeedo®, The Hearts Whisper®, the R.U.D process®, Neurosloth® Academy, The Anxiety Tent®, The Angry Tent®Through our emerging EAP service - I also support high masking neurodivergent individuals including creative’s, teachers, entrepreneurs and corporates who are on the quest for self-development. Neurodivergent individuals may want to work with us if: You have your diagnosis or perhaps you are self-diagnosed – you are looking for strategies to harmonise your mind-body connection and manage the unique challenges related to your neurodivergence. Perhaps you have let things escalate due to shame keeping you stuck and you don’t know what to do or how to sort it out? Whatever the shame is around - a poor credit history, debt, late tax returns - there really is nothing that can be sorted out. Or perhaps neurodivergent anxiety and burnout have lead you to creating coping mechanisms that don’t serve you in your personal or professional life? Maybe the medication didn’t quite workout the way you hoped? You may even be looking for an alternative to medication? Or something to work alongside it? Are you hoping to witness an understanding that goes beyond basic coping strategies so you can unleash your full potential in your career and personal life? You acknowledge that you need to start doing things a different way. You want to stop hiding. But you feel stuck. Maybe paralysed with fear. Don’t know where to start? The Homestead Model™ can help you – it’s your trauma-sensitive roadmap to self-discovery and authenticity.
