ABOUT YASHWANTH KUMAR GUJJALA

In the years of graduate studies I became fascinated with Geo-technical engineering. Further during post grad studies numerical modelling has also become a essential part of my life. I am basically a Mining Engineer who has a love for mathematics. Right now I am working on problems with numerical implementation of fractured porous media. During this term I am now able to work on many mining and geotechnical tools/software like ANSYS, Rocscience, SURPAC, Solidworks, etc. Right now I am actively involved in coding (OOPs C++) my dissertation problem using Extended Finite Element Method. After my graduate studies, I had worked in an Underground Mine (Rampura Agucha, Hindustan Zinc Limited, Vedanta) for a year as mining engineer. Life in mining industry is challenging and it has it\'s own charm I would say. It\'s quite remarkable that some mining industries in India are still running on the basis of Rule of thumb. There is quite a huge scope in doing research in geotechnical aspect of the working. Establishing a scientific basis on which any method works is what we as an Mining engineer should aspire for, and hence be beneficial to our society. Both during my Bachelors and Masters I was fortunate to receive Institute Silver Medals. I have worked in numerous mining consultancy projects for my supervisor here at IIT Kharagpur. I have also published and presented papers in reputed journals and conferences. Finally \"ALL WORK AND NO PLAY MAKES JACK A DULL BOY\" has always been the motto for me throughout my life. I have and currently participating in Inter-college sports events to keep myself healthy both physically and mentally.
