About Yash Akhouri
As an international architecture graduate from the University of Oregon, I completed my Bachelor of Architecture degree in four years on the fast track. I recently finished my MS in Architecture, focusing on researching Biogenic Materials and Mass Timber. My passion for sustainable design is deeply rooted in my diverse international background, where I’ve witnessed the importance of limiting waste and embracing circular economy principles. This experience has shaped my approach to architecture, driving me to explore waste reuse and resource efficiency in every project I take on.During my work with the TallWood Design Institute and the Institute for Health in the Built Environment, I contributed to innovative research on sustainable mass timber construction and health-centered design. I am committed to minimizing environmental impact and integrating circular economy principles to create lasting, sustainable solutions.In addition to my academic and research pursuits, I am a freelance photographer and enjoy working in the woodshop, blending creativity with a sustainability-driven mindset.
