About Yash Agarwal

Hello :) With 7 years of experience across ICANN, Twitter, the Indian Parliament, and building Public Policy India, I wear multiple hats all aimed at the broader goal of building, shaping and contributing to India’s burgeoning public policy and social impact landscape. My work revolves around three key areas:* Tech Policy & Internet Governance: I’ve always held full-time roles in this domain, working for organisations focused on solving emerging technology policy and Internet governance challenges in India and beyond!* Building the Public Policy Ecosystem: Founded and lead Public Policy India (PPI), the largest community-driven knowledge and engagement platform dedicated to building and shaping India’s burgeoning Public Policy and Social Impact space. PPI\'s mission is to grow the entire public policy \"pie\" in India through content, community, careers, and capacity building * Training India\'s youth: Beyond my professional roles, I serve as a visiting/guest faculty at several universities across India including Ashoka University, Symbiosis International University alongside having conducted multiple guest lectures across several others including IIMs, IITs, Jindal, Christ, Jamia, St. Xavier\'s, TISS etc- mostly teaching modules around Public Policy, Technology Policy, Governance, Social Impact and building careers in these fields.I also serve in an advisory role across consulting firms, development sector organisations as well as educational institutions. Skilled in communications, advocacy, strategy, and government relations, what drives me is the potential of sound policy making to be a force for immense social good. Before my current role at ICANN, I worked for Twitter India and South Asia (now, x.com) for a couple of years in a policy and partnership role. Preceding my stint at Twitter, I worked as an Associate Consultant at Chase Advisors, an APAC focused public policy advocacy and consulting firm. Earlier, I worked as a LAMP Fellow to a 4-term Cabinet Minister and current Member of Parliament. I’ve also had the experience of working with the Government of India, National Institute of Advanced Studies, Pratham, BJP\'s National Vice President Mr. Baijayant ‘Jay’ Panda’s Office, Teach For India, among others.Born and raised in Calcutta, I\'m fluent in English, Hindi, and Bangla (written and spoken). When not at work - mostly reading, playing tennis, brewing coffee or travelling!Have an idea? Wish to collaborate? Share suggestions/feedback? Or Just wanna catch up? Public Policy India

Jul 2020 — Present · New Delhi, IN

PPI is a knowledge platform dedicated to the cause of Public Policy that I founded 5 years back and currently lead. It is a startup that serves to make policy issues more engaging and accessible for everyday Indians, while also enabling them to build meaningful careers in this space.• We work on all 4 pillars to actively help build and grow the broader public policy and social impact space in India - A) Content - The Policygram - https://thepolicygram.com - The PolicyGram is our content arm at PPI wherein we humanise day-to-day developments and bring out the policy angle in such issues to drive home the point why policy matters, policy choices do.B) Community - The PolicySphere - PPI has built and runs local policy+social impact chapters (linktr.ee/ppicommunities) across 20 of India’s largest cities, to help the broader policy and social impact space grow beyond New Delhi and foster a local ecosystem of awareness and opportunities more broadly. This includes frequent meet-ups, workshops etc. across cities.C) Careers - Public Policy India - The parent platform focuses on helping people build meaningful careers. We do this through multiple means. For example the weekly newsletter that we send out (https://newsletter.publicpolicyindia.com) shares 100’s of jobs, internships, courses and other career resources completely for free. PPI’s YouTube is another such medium.D) Capacity Building - Proficy - Social enterprise consulting with NGO partners on strategy, program, partnerships and communications to foster and broaden social impact, that I lead. We work with trusted partner organisations in the policy and social impact space in India and help out with capacity building, consult with them on specific mandates to help deliver on their missions, better. You can learn more about our work at publicpolicyindia.com! Do drop us a line if you\'ve any Ideas/Feedback to share, thank you :)
