ABOUT YASH D. SHAH

Expertise: Nanophotonic devices (Metasurfaces) for revolutionizing imaging and quantum optics. I have worked on the design, fabrication, and analysis of two-dimensional nanophotonic devices called metasurfaces since my Ph.D. I have successfully demonstrated metasurfaces on a metallic (plasmonic) platform as well as dielectric for imaging and polarimetric applications. Along with my collaborators at Heriot-Watt University I have demonstrated the first multispectral imaging capabilities of metasurfaces integrated directly onto a Single Photon Avalanche Diode (SPAD) array camera and this was also used to imaging biological tissues.My work in quantum optics is based on reduced measurements of full state tomography and bell measurements with a dielectric metasurface. I have gained 5+ years of experience in design and 11+ years in micro and nanofabrication (fabrication THz quantum cascade lasers during my Ph.D.). My metasurface research extends from fundamental physics of light-matter interaction to using machine learning for non -Euclidean designs to fully realizable and practical devices for photonic computing and imaging and potentially biophotonics.
