ABOUT YASER M. ROSHAN

For the most of the last 9 years (after PhD), I was involved in entrepreneurship activities/advisory and research partnerships development. I have a passion for innovation and in my current role in Mitacs, I am trying to play a beneficial role in its ecosystem by helping companies and researchers get connected and speak the same language. I have received my Ph.D. from the School of Mechatronic Systems Engineering, Simon Fraser University in Summer 2014; and am currently working toward my Business Administration degree. Combining my entrepreneurial and research background, I was working part-time as a post-doctoral researcher and team supervisor in a medical SFU spin-off focused on activity monitoring and fall prevention for elderlies, before joining Point Park University. I was also engaged in volunteer activities, such as managing BCSEA annual conference “Energy Connections”; organizing Industry 4.0 panel discussion and startup exhibition in TELUS World of Science; and helping other immigrant engineers in BC. In 2015, I was the chair of IEBCA for which I received the Leadership Award from Immigrant Employment Council of BC (IEC-BC).
