About the American Jewish Advocacy Coalition of Syosset (AJACS): AJACS is a groundbreaking organization founded by nine synagogues and the Mid Island Y JCC within the Syosset Central School District. AJACS is dedicated to fostering a united Jewish community that supports diversity, education, and advocacy against antisemitism. AJACS aims to enrich the Syosset-Woodbury community by promoting inclusivity, understanding, and pride in Jewish identity. By building bridges between the Syosset Central School District and the Jewish community, AJACS\'s mission is to enrich the lives of students, parents, and the broader Syosset/Woodbury District.AJACS is organized into three main action areas -Advocacy, Support, and Education -each with dedicated subcommittees focused on student, parent, and community engagement. From lobbying for the adoption of the IHRA Working Definition of Antisemitism to providing social and emotional support and augmenting educational programs to combat antisemitism, AJACS aims to address the nuanced needs of the Jewish community in the Syosset-Woodbury district.The organization seeks to be a model for other communities, demonstrating the power of unity and targeted action in creating positive change.
