About Yanjun Gao
Dr. Yanjun Gao (she/her) is an assistant professor at Department of Biomedical Informatics. She leads a research lab dedicated to the development and evaluation of novel natural language processing (NLP) methods, including large language models and their transformative applications in both healthcare and broader domains. Dr. Gao obtained her PhD in Computer Science and Engineering from the NLP Lab at Pennsylvania State University, with thesis research focusing on automated evaluation for text generation, semantic representation, and graph-based NLP. Afterward, she joined the Critical Care Medicine Data Science Lab at the University of Wisconsin-Madison as a postdoctoral researcher, where she spent three years advancing the integration of NLP/AI with critical care medicine.
