About Yanitzia Canetti

I am an author, entrepreneur, translator, professor, speaker, and the mother of Ares and Eros.As an author, I have published more than 500 books across novels, poetry, theatre, and children’s literature, released in the United States, Spain, and Mexico and translated into multiple languages. My work includes fiction, nonfiction, textbooks, teachers’ guides, and educational materials for bilingual and multicultural programs, developed in collaboration with publishers such as Penguin Random House, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, McGraw-Hill, and Benchmark Education.As an entrepreneur, I have led for more than 30 years a developer house dedicated to the creation of educational materials from Pre-K through college across multiple disciplines: Cambridge BrickHouse, Inc.As a translator, I have translated more than 300 books, primarily for young readers, including works by Dr. Seuss, Curious George, Amelia Bedelia, Yellow Submarine by The Beatles, The Bench by Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and Read All About It! by former First Lady Laura Bush.As a professor, I teach business and management, Spanish language, literature and culture, and creative writing. My professional work spans publishing, translation, education, and cultural studies within both the humanities and the business world.I was born in Havana and am a U.S. citizen who has lived in Massachusetts for over thirty years. I often describe myself as a “melting pot”: Havana-born, Caribbean by extension, Swiss-Italian, Spanish, and Jewish by heritage, and American by choice.
