ABOUT YANICA F. FAUSTIN

I work at the intersection of public health research, strategy, and systems change to create and partner with those most committed to translating health equity from aspiration into practice. I am the Founder and CEO of Impact Health Equity, an initiative-driven research and strategy organization focused on transforming the structural conditions that shape health outcomes. Through Impact Health Equity, I both develop original initiatives and collaborate with organizations, researchers, foundations, and innovators who are building more equitable health systems. Alongside this work, I serve as a tenured Associate Professor of Public Health, where my research examines how structural forces such as racism, policy, migration, and data systems shape health outcomes across the Black diaspora and other historically marginalized populations. My interdisciplinary work bridges rigorous research methods, community-engaged scholarship, and applied systems strategy. As a Black Haitian-American raised in Brooklyn, I have long understood that health is shaped by structural conditions. My lived experience informs my research lens and deepens my commitment to centering the voices, expertise, and knowledge systems of communities most often marginalized by dominant institutions. Across my work in academia, research, and Impact Health Equity, I focus on building frameworks, partnerships, and strategies that support sustainable systems change. It requires new frameworks, new data, new partnerships, and new ways of translating knowledge into action. Through research, initiative-building, strategic partnerships, and speaking, I work with leaders and organizations committed to building health systems that are more just, accountable, and equitable.
