About Yan Bennett

I teach and research on international law and security issues related to multinational organizations, China, and the United States. I am Deputy Chair, Global Issues in Area Studies at the National Foreign Affairs Training Center. I have been a Professorial Lecturer at George Washington University since 2018, teaching courses such as \"The United Nations and Global Security,\"\"Law of Diplomacy,\" and \"The United Nations Reimagined for the 21st Century.\" At Illinois State University, I taught \"21st Century US Diplomacy,\" and \"History of American Diplomacy,\" in the Departments of Politics and History, respectively. I have published several articles and books on China\'s law reforms, leadership, and governance, drawing on my academic background holding a JD in law, PhD in history, MA in International Affairs, as well as my professional experience as a former Foreign Service Officer. I am passionate about global governance and leveraging my skills in policy analysis, international relations, and foreign policy.Previously, I was the Assistant Director of two research centers at Princeton University for fifteen years, where I managed research and administrative staff, events, budget, and activities.
