ABOUT YANA JAYAMPATHY
I am a fourth-year B.A. candidate for Global Affairs, pursuing a certificate in Global Health studies, while on the pre-medical track. I am deeply interested in exploring how governance and politics play a role in determining health care affordability and accessibility, and am pursuing a career at the intersection of policy and medicine. On campus, I work as an undergraduate research assistant, working to understand the intersection between alcoholism and HIV transmission, and where interventions can be applied in low-resource settings to mitigate both. This summer, I spent time in KwaZulu-Natal investigating this using qualitative research methods. In my free time, I volunteer with Yale New Haven Hospital, and I am also a Senior Fellow and Deputy Legislative Coordinator with the Yale College Democrats. I have also recently transitioned out of my role as a CCE on campus, to become a First Year Counselor during my senior year! I am excited to work alongside a team of dedicated counselors to ensure the safe and successful transition to college for the incoming first-year class.
