About Yalemi Morales

I am a biochemist because I have always wanted to find out all the intricate details that come together to make our bodies work. I am a collector of biochemical techniques and love to figure out new ways of answering biochemical questions. My passions include teaching, lab work, hiking, and sharing my awe for science with others. I am currently a Quality Control Laboratory Manager for the Analytical/Biochemistry laboratory at Aldevron where I am fortunate to lead a team with similar passions as my own. We strive to develop processes and drive continuous improvements to ensure cGMP compliance and consistent, accurate, test results. We support customer quality testing concerns and work to develop a strong partnership with our clients to ensure mutual success. Continuous improvement is our way of life. During my tenure as manager we have reduced our testing lead time from 15 days to under 4 days, and have sustained our improvements for over a year. We have expanded our analyst training and testing coverage by over 300%. We have restructured our non-conformance investigations to increase scientific robustness, while also improving methodologies and benefiting from a 5-fold reduction in the number of laboratory investigations. These, and many other process improvements have resulted in increased compliance and increased throughput, while also realizing cost savings to the organization. Importantly, I have had the opportunity to grow as a leader and mentor during this process, building a strong sense of collaboration and team work that has allowed our team to thrive.
