As Lead Design Engineer at ScottishPower, I am responsible for the strategic planning and design of the distribution network, ensuring safe, efficient, and sustainable energy delivery. I manage system performance, mitigate risks, and enable the development of future-ready infrastructure by implementing innovative investment strategies. Additionally, I initiate improvements across various sections of the power network to overcome barriers to the integration of low-carbon technologies and support the electrification of heat and transportation. I collaborate closely on the development of SPEN\'s RIIO-ED3 planning and ensure that all major demand and generation connections comply with UK GRID standards, including G99, P28, P29 & G5-5. Key Focus Areas: Power System Analysis and Network Planning: Utilizing PowerFactory and IPSA for advanced simulations and reliability assessments to ensure robust system performance. Integration of Low-Carbon Technologies: Leading efforts to enhance the network\'s capacity for integrating renewable energy sources, electric vehicles, and heat electrification. Long-Term Investment Planning: Developing strategies for network modernisation and major connections, ensuring the system is adaptable to future needs Compliance and Standards Management: Overseeing adherence to grid codes and engineering standards to ensure the network\'s compliance with UK regulations Technical Leadership: Providing leadership in asset management, system design, and stakeholder engagement to deliver high-quality infrastructure solutions. Impact:I am driving the transition to a smarter, greener grid by leading initiatives that facilitate the integration of low-carbon technologies, including electric vehicles and heat pumps. Through my work, I ensure that SPEN delivers resilient, sustainable infrastructure that supports the decarbonisation of heat and transport, ultimately contributing to a sustainable future for customers and communities
