Selected Tasks, Assignments and AchievementsAct as a spokesperson, responding to inquiries from local, national and international media, including the press, television, and radio, as well as tax press services, in accurate and comprehensive answers to complex media inquiries. Help design, plan, direct, and advise on public affairs programs for the agency. Serve as Media Relations Bilingual Team Lead. Duties include providing approved IRS messages in Spanish to traditional and non-traditional media and identifying new Spanish language media outlets; translating and reviewing all internal and external communications products as warranted (i.e. news releases, fact sheets, tax tips, web content, YouTube scripts, tweets, etc.). Lead translator and editor for all Media Relations products, working directly with content creators to ensure that content is usable, accessible and accurate. Serve as liaison between the IRS and external parties on significant and sensitive matters involving media activities. Develop, build and maintain functional and professional working relationships with local, national and international media contacts; considered a trusted source of information about the agency’s mission, programs, and policies. Respond to an average of 10 monthly media requests on agency’s programs. Responses often require detailed explanations of negative comments made on the agency’s activities or performance in a particular situation. • Work directly with IRS executives, managers, and expert, operational tax administrators to provide accurate and comprehensive answers to complex media inquiries. • Develop and disseminate clear, timely and actionable materials to the public or specialized target groups within a domestic or foreign setting. Develop and prepare news releases, talking points, Q & As and other written products for designated personnel to prepare for public presentations, media interviews, news conferences, and other special events.
