ABOUT YACUB A.
Hi! My name is Yacub, I am a first-year law undergraduate student at the University of Nottingham, with the aspiration to be a human rights barrister once I graduate. My passion for human rights stems from both personal and professional motivations, where real-world events such as the genocide in Palestine and the growth of the far-right in the West, as well as the desire to protect human rights like the freedom to protest, have driven me to strive for meaningful change in society. My legal experience involves interning at Freshfields for four weeks in their Antitrust Litigation team, taking part in Slaughter and May\'s virtual \'Excellerators\' programme, and engaging with Travers Smith\'s THRIVE scheme (which was my first work experience at a law firm!). However, I am keen to gain some experience in barrister chambers in the future. Additionally, I have become extremely involved within local and national politics, evidenced through my work as a Member of Youth Parliament as well as working on significant campaigns with Bite Back and Amnesty International UK.
