About Xavier Williams
Xavier Williams is board-certified pediatrician and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine. He completed his undergraduate education as a first-generation college student at the University of Florida graduating with honors and receiving several distinguished awards, including induction into the UF Hall of Fame. He completed his medical education at the University of Florida where he received both his medical and master of public health degrees through a 5-year dual-degree program. He completed residency at the UNC Children\'s Pediatric Residency program where he also served as Chief Resident in the 2023-24 academic year. During his time in residency, Xavier helped found the organization, Next Gen Pediatricians, a national mentorship program that helps 4th year underrepresented medical students apply into pediatrics residency.Of note, Xavier has been inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha, Gold Humanism and Delta Omega Public Health Honor Societies. He has visited the country of Haiti several times and served as a trip leader for the college of medicine’s international medical mission trip to Haiti helping provide sustainable health care in northern and southern Haiti.Xavier\'s clinical interests includes caring for carceral-involved youth and outpatient pediatrics with a desire to mentor youth while empowering them in taking ownership of their health. His interest in academic medicine revolve around mentorship, medical school pathway programs, and increasing diversity in medical education. Outside of medicine, his hobbies include: photography, hiking, cycling, cooking, caring for his plants and being with family.
