ABOUT XIN T.
Xin is a PhD student in Statistics at Rice University, where he focuses on variable selection and biomedical image analysis. He is passionate about creating meaningful change in the student community. As the president of the Graduate Student Association, Xin led many transformative data-driven advocacy efforts that significantly improved the health insurance, doctoral stipend, dining access, off-campus transportation, and counseling and wellbeing services for graduate students. These accomplishments demonstrate his strong leadership, strategic thinking, and deep commitment to his peers.Xin is a national-level Olympic weightlifter and founder of the Rice Olympic Weightlifting Club, which ranks 14th in the nation and now hosts over 30 members. He placed 16th in the 2024 U25 National Championship and continue to build extensive connections across the national and international weightlifting community. Xin is also an amateur opera singer.
