Our goal is to design and test a parametric porous Ti-Al6-V4 femoral stem for hip arthroplasty reduce stress shielding and improve the osseointegration of the device. My role in this research project is to create a python script that generates a parametric porous scaffolding model that can be modified via a custom user interface. The model will be printed with a laser bed fusion printer and will undergo compression tests. Osteoblasts will be cultured in a sample of the porous scaffold to test osseointegration and nutrient flow capabilities.

As a passionate Biomedical Engineering student at the University of Utah, I am driven by the potential of biotechnology to improve patient outcomes. My focus is on the design and development of medical devices, particularly orthopedic implants. Through my coursework and hands-on experience, I\'ve developed strong skills in Fusion 360 (CAD), Python, and MATLAB applicable in RnD. As a research student of the Multiscale Mechanics & Materials lab, I work on optimizing porous scaffolding osteointegration capabilities for bone growth in total hip replacement implants. I designed software that creates customizable porous scaffoldings adjustable by stiffness, shape, and size. I’ve also participated in the 2023 Bench to Bedside competition, where I helped design an affordable electronic stethoscope aimed at improving telehealth diagnoses. I am eager to expand my expertise in medical device development, biomaterials, software development, with a long-term goal of contributing to innovative healthcare solutions.
