About Xander G.
Hi there! I\'m Xander. My pronouns are they/them and he/him. I\'m currently a graduate student at the NYU SPS Center for Publishing, Writing, and Media, specializing in book acquisitions and editorial development. My unwavering dedication to uplifting chronically marginalized communities and fighting against censorship have wholeheartedly committed me to working with books, and I\'ve been set on this path ever since I was a little kid reading Spider-Man comics. In May of 2023, I graduated from Princeton University with a BA in Linguistics and two minors, one in French Language & Culture, and the other in Translation & Intercultural Communication. I focused my studies on the properties of language, how languages work both inside and out, the intricacies of how we use language to communicate, and how language shapes our perception and worldview. I studied English, French, German, and ASL in a formal capacity, and my linguistics concentration allowed me to see a little bit of a lot of languages spoken across the globe. The research I\'ve done specializes in Queer Linguistics, specifically how language and gender intersect and interact. I currently work as a Research Assistant in the Princeton University Linguistics Department. My Senior Thesis, completed in 2023 and entitled \"English (En)Gendered: How Underlying Morphosyntactic and Socio-pragmatic Agreement Affects the Classification of Language by Gender,\" highlighted how current language classification methods are inaccurate in the modern context of gender. My Junior Paper, completed in 2022 and entitled \"Translating Transgender: the Expansion of French Morphosyntax for the Linguistic Inclusion of Gender Non-Conformity,\" discussed the linguistic validity behind nonbinary and gender non-indicating neopronouns in French. I am committed to producing excellence and have tailored my studies of language, translation, and business to ensure that I thrive as an editor. I have extensive experience in academic writing, copy editing, and research, and studying at Princeton University + NYU School of Professional Studies has ensured that I have an ironclad attention to detail and that I can multitask without fail. 🧡Feel free to reach out + connect!
