ABOUT PHIL BARLOW

I currently serve as Manager of Landscape Architect with an emphasis on the design of, school and affordable housing sites, parks and the renovation of historic landscapes. Beginning with the award winning Hartford Montessori School Courtyard, I have lead the firm to complete many innovative children’s environments including Early Childhood Learning Centers at Eastern Connecticut State University and Naugatuck Valley Community College. Other education projects include the Sports and Medical Science Academy, Breakthrough Magnet School, Noah Webster Magnet School and Kinsella Magnet School, all in Hartford. Other project sectors in which I excel include historic public parks and affordable housing sites. The firm has been recognized with almost two dozens awards from institutions including the Connecticut Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, Connecticut Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects, Connecticut Chapter of the American Planning Association, The Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation, and the National Concrete Masonry Association. I am also a visiting critic for the University of Hartford architecture program and the UCONN landscape architecture program. Service in my local community of East Haddam Connecticut includes service on the Planning and Zoning Commission as well as various planning and building committees.
