ABOUT JOHN WOOLLEY
I am a construction projects and energy lawyer practising since 1997. I have worked across a wide number of sectors and on projects in a wide number of geographical locations, frequently attending negotiations on the ground. These include: Renewables: I have acted on wind farm projects, onshore and offshore, since 2005 including acting for or against all of the main turbine suppliers on turbine supply and operations contract. I have in depth experience in advising on solar PV. I have advised on a wide range of other renewables including geothermal, ground source heat, biomass and anaerobic digestion and a number of district heating projects.Energy: I have advised on a wide range of tradition thermal energy projects and I have also worked with utilities in the electricity, gas and water sectors on contract programmes and specific projects in the regulated and unregulated sectors. Infrastructure: I have advised on numerous infrastructure projects in the roads and healthcare sectors in particular. Africa: I have been advising on energy and infrastructure projects in sub-Sarahan Africa since 2010. These have included rail projects in Nigeria, Airport in Rwanda and renewable and thermal power projects in Kenya. Process Plant: I have worked on a wide range of process plant contracts for projects such as mine processing facilities, chemical plants, recycling plants and supermarket distribution centres. I spent many years working on projects in the UK in the health, social accommodation and roads sectors and have advised on in Africa and other parts of the world. This has included front end negotiations, a project counsel role for day to day legal issues for many years after project completion and advising administrators upon the insolvency of key partners. Rail: I have worked on metro and mining railways in Africa (Nigeria, Malawi and Guinea), station projects in Canada and on rail projects in the UK and the Netherlands. Mining: I have a range of experience in advising on mining projects, from mine processing facilities to project contracts for new mines. I am familiar with working with all of the construction standard forms.
