About Wei Lee Woon

Wei Lee received a degree in electronic engineering from the University of Manchester in 1997 and a Ph.D. from the Neural Computing Research Group, Aston University in 2002. He served in different faculty positions over a 16 year period, most recently as an Associate Professor at the Masdar Institute in Abu Dhabi (UAE ), an exclusively graduate-level research university founded in collaboration with MIT. In 2018, he joined Expedia Group as a Senior Machine Learning Scientist. Wei Lee has worked as a Research Affiliate and Visiting Scholar at MIT, the RIKEN Brain Science Institute in Tokyo, NYU and Aston University. His research interests include technology mining, analysis of distributed generation systems, and EEG signal analysis. He was a member of the Technical Committee on Neural Networks and advised Abu Dhabi and UAE government entities on issues pertaining to the use of AI. To date, he has published over 100 academic papers and these have received close to citations. In addition, his work has received media attention including from prestigious outlets like Nature News and Physics World.
