As an Equal Opportunity Specialist, I take pride in my role of ensuring compliance with civil rights requirements of GSA\'s assisted programs and promoting awareness of OCR\'s programs. I conduct investigations promptly upon receipt of a complete complaint, and I make every effort to resolve complaints informally before issuing a letter of findings to the supervisor. I prepare reports of the investigation thoroughly, and I negotiate and monitor corrective action plans as needed.In addition, I monitor equal opportunity compliance by recipients of Federal financial assistance and provide technical assistance as needed to resolve operational problems. I facilitate communication between recipients and headquarters, and I conduct technical visits to identify systemic factors that may affect program effectiveness.I apply the principles of civil rights to resolve complex investigations of civil rights complaints and analyze legal issues to ensure that all decisions are fair and just. I take a constructive and proactive approach to addressing issues and always recommend corrective actions as needed.
