WORK HISTORY
Test Analyst @Financial Times
I am currently working on multiple Node.js projects testing B2B and B2C applications which reside on the overall FT.com platform.I am active in the agile team, from creating and/or reviewing stories early to determine issues before one line of code has been committed, to working with the developers, UX designers, and Product Owners, to testing the finished code, to actively contributing in the agile process improvement via the retrospective.I test both the microservices (REST API, using Postman) to flush out any integration and functional issues and front end (cross browser, cross platform) to ensure the application is functional and usable. To do this I will either pull the relevant branches from Github and run the applications locally, or I will test on production using feature flags. I have found it incredibly refreshing to not have the anti-pattern of repeating tests on multiple environments all the way through to Production.Because FT.com has a progressive attitude towards technical debt, instead of fixing every issue, we monitor everything and have a bug duty rota which developers and testers have to spend time every month. I would liase with support and the users to triage, log, and retest the fixes to any issues. This allowed me to gain a greater knowledge of the whole FT.com technological stack.Monitoring: Chartio, Pingdom, Grafana, Sentry.io, SplunkDatabases: DynamoDB, Postgres, Neo4J, RedisCloud: AWS, Heroku, Fastly
