About Winthrop Morgan

Winthrop \"Win\" Morgan is a public health strategist at Levin & Morgan, LLC, which provides technical assistance for global health projects in developing countries. His work builds upon and supports social marketing as a discipline. In the 1980s, he documented an early shift in work and business practices toward corporate social responsibility in the New York Times bestseller, Re-inventing the Corporation. He then spent three years in rural Africa demonstrating the effectiveness of social marketing to \"sell\" community-owned village health posts. In the 1990s, he \"sold\" family planning counselling services throughout Africa and the Near East at the Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs. His \"Together We Care\" project in Ghana was awarded the Best Population Communication Program in the World by the Population Institute. At the turn of the century, he introduced digital dissemination and co-branding of health education materials at the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute Health Information Network project. Win is perhaps best known in the social marketing community for co-founding and directing the International Social Marketing Association, where he served as President for its first six years. He now introduces new vaccines and treatments in Low and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs). He holds a Master in Public Health from the Johns Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health in International Health.

    World Health Organization

    Apr 2012 — Present

Redesigned the Comprehensive Multi-Year Plan (cMYP) planning and costing tool to engage planners in collaborative communication about the future of their national immunization program. Program Managers in developing and middle-income countries use this tool to invite participation of stakeholders in a collaborative conversation about how best to plan, budget, and finance their country\'s immunization program. By developing the tool in a familiar software program (msExcel) and giving access to all formulas and codes, it engenders trust, empowers participants, and promotes evidence-based discussions. Adopted by the Global Alliance on Vaccine Initiatives (GAVI).
