1. Distinguished Engineer

   IBM

   Jan 1990 — Present

   The bulk of Scott’s IBM history is having worked in what is now IBM\'s Software Group Division (SWG), building operating system software and then middleware system software. He was one of the pioneering product developers and inventors for the OS/2 Operating System and for multimedia on personal computers in the early 1990’s, and an advocate and technical leader for Java in the second half of the last decade. Starting in his focus was inventing the Next Generation Telecom Service Creation and Execution Platforms and then in 2001, IBM’s initiative for Branch Banking Renewal. In 2002 he created an IBM product for Business Process Integration within the Energy & Utilities space, and in 2004 Scott led the development of middleware solutions for the Communications Sector including Telecoms, Energy companies, and Media companies. He designed and built the IBM Solutions Experience Laboratory on the IBM Austin Site. In 2005, he worked to create the first global common governance for the software sales Technical Exploration Centers. These regional facilities host IBM’s customer solutions key sales plays for the eleven major industries that the IBM Software Group targets. In 2006, as Co-Author and Leader of the IBM strategy for World Wide Digital Convergence, IBM formed a new division to execute on his strategy. Scott has been on a corporate acquisition team and has been trained to complete a corporate acquisition due diligence. He was the co-author of the textbook:\"OS/2 Warp Connect, PowerPC Edition: Operating in the New Frontier.\" Scott is involved in the academic community and has had consulting roles at the University of Texas at El Paso, and the University of Texas at Austin, where he is a member of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Board of Advisors.
