ABOUT WINSLEY DURAND III EDMP
The vast majority of my professional and volunteer experience has been focused on the economic empowerment of businesses and individuals. I currently am responsible for the REACH program, an initiative for the development of small businesses wishing to increase their technical abilities, business acumen, access to capital and to increase the overall capacity of their firms. Prior to REACH my responsibilities encompassed attracting new businesses to the Greater Omaha Area; with an emphasis on growth firms in the areas of Finance & Insurance, Value-Added Ag, Manufacturing and Defense. Managing several distinctly separate scopes of economic development work within the Chamber has enabled me to become very familiar with the art of business and development. Primary responsibilities have focused upon attracting new businesses to the Greater Omaha area and the management of a team of domestic and international economic development professionals and their budgets. I have had responsibility for all aspects of both attraction and retention strategy and process. The wide range of experiences, such as holding management positions at Associates Commercial in underwriting, collections and sales; establishing and running a non-profit loan fund; providing business consulting and technical assistance; and providing participation and leadership to several non-profit boards have provided me the skills to effectively assist businesses in a variety of ways. Sharing my knowledge with others to increase the efficacy of the industry has resulted in speaking opportunities on both regional and national stages with the International Council of Shopping Centers and the International Economic Development Council. The establishment of collaborations with many entities has resulted in the leveraging of resources across multiple organizations, as well as more effective and efficient processes to serve the region\'s small businesses and enrich the eco-system of technical service providers.
