Serve a critical role in ensuring that soldiers are equipped with the best tools, technology, and services. Directly manage the procurement, development, testing, and fielding of military equipment and systems, bridging the gap between operational needs and technological solutions.*Roles and Responsibilities of an Army Acquisition Officer:o Program Management: Oversee the life cycle of weapon systems, equipment, and technology development programs. o Contract Management: Work with government and industry partners to manage contracts and ensure deliverables meet Army requirements. Evaluate proposals, negotiate contracts, and ensure compliance with federal acquisition regulations (FAR/DFARS).o Budgeting & Financial Oversight: Develop and manage multi-million or billion-dollar acquisition program budgets. Coordinate with stakeholders to justify and secure funding.o Systems Engineering: Ensure system integration, interoperability, and suitability. Coordinate with engineers, logisticians, and testers to refine product requirements and performance metrics.o Testing & Evaluation: Lead operational and developmental testing efforts to validate system performance. Use test data to make informed acquisition decisions and risk assessments.o Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as a liaison between Army commands, industry partners, Congress, and Department of Defense stakeholders. Align acquisition strategies with Army priorities and warfighter needs.o Logistics & Sustainment Planning: Plan and coordinate long-term support, fielding, and sustainment strategies. Ensure systems are supportable and maintainable over their life cycle.
