Lead the Product and Program team responsible for the Aurora Driver’s High Definition Mapping System (Localization, Offline Map production, Online Map updates)- Responsible for overall strategy development and execution to ensure the Mapping System effectively supports Autonomy requirements, conducts safety case and validation activities to enable fully autonomous operations, and the capability to efficiently scale at the speed and cost required to support expanding commercialization- Planned and executed a 9 month technology integration of Uber ATG and Aurora mapping systems including multiple web applications, machine learning models, and batch processing pipelines which completed on schedule- Strategized and managed our map update workflow roadmap, coordinating efforts across Autonomy, Vehicle Operations, Safety Engineering, and Platform Engineering, reducing map update latency for construction from weeks to under a few days in 12 months- Achieved regular disengagement-free drives on high priority routes by reducing map related disengagements by 100x- Developed the Mapping Subsystem verification and validation strategy, coordinating requirements definition, safety case artifact creation, and comprehensive testing strategy which was repeatedly highlighted as the exemplar for the rest of the Software Organization- Regularly analyze production metrics and conducted user interviews to identify bottlenecks in our system. Collaborated with Design and Engineering to refine tools, algorithms, and policies, which doubled our production throughput in a year- Provide mapping system constraints and requirements to contribute to Aurora Horizon and Connect launch and commercialization strategies- Coordinate rapid map updates and iteration in support of public demos with investors, press, analysts, and strategic partners (2021 Aurora Illuminated, 2022 Analyst and Investor Day) resulting in 0 map related issues.
