ABOUT WILMISHA MAY

Hi, my name is Wilmisha (Wil-MEE-shuh). Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and Public Health Enthusiast holding a Master of Public Health and a certificate in Ethnic and Rural Health Disparities. North Carolina born and raised with a passion for colliding my Public Health and Nursing backgrounds to address racial and ethnic health disparities and provide and connect underprivileged communities with access to quality healthcare and resources. In the past, I have been a competent and efficient Program Manager and Coordinator of Non-Profits and Local Government agencies. In such roles, I have proven my reliability through program development and implementation strategies to enhance the reach and impact of services provided by each agency. Some examples include creating a Dating App Outreach program and an easily-accessible online scheduling system. These programs were developed and implemented by me to provide the communities of Guilford County and surrounding counties with sexual health resources and in turn, reduce the number of STI outbreaks in the county. My creative capabilities allowed me to create appealing content, for social media and flyers to post within the community, to gain agencies clients who wanted to know more about accessing their services and maintaining sustainability of the agency’s Prevention program. As for my future, my plans are to continue my education and obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and continuing impacting the lives of patients in a way that is unique and makes a huge impact on their health while achieving health equity. I hope I am able to do this by strategically using my Community Health experience along with my Healthcare experience to gain better relationships with my patients and create better health outcomes with them. In my free time, you can find me watching my favorite Netflix series, creating amazing content, or learning something new!
