About Will Wehe

A former boss once sent me an Albert Einstein quote in which he described himself as “passionately curious.” He told me my thirst for knowledge and desire to research everything reminded him of this. I’d also like to think he was likening me to Einstein. I am Will and I am passionately curious. While throughout my time in high school or the early days of college that is most represented by the impulse purchase of a guitar or golf clubs (how could anybody make such a pretty sound with either of those?) the curiosity that took me on a different adventure was my interest of accounting. Financial reporting is not necessarily the glamorous jobs children dream about, the inner workings of a company and large rule book captured my attention. It was a game I wanted to learn how to play. Throughout my undergrad and masters degree I was exposed to a number of potential accounting paths. My time at Ameriprise Financial and Partners for the Common Good was filled with continued financial statement analysis, spreadsheet design, budgeting, and research to help both companies decide on the best investments and loans for their clients. Alvarez and Marsal gave me experience on the forensic side of accounting in a heavy research role designed to help prepare an expert witness for testimony. Once I graduated, I decided the best start to my career would be with Deloitte in the audit practice. The diversity of clients and work has been an incredible learning opportunity. I have planned and performed audits of public and private companies in a variety of industries including airline, retail, healthcare manufacturing, and banking including assisting an Emerging Growth Company through the IPO process. Each engagement presented a new opportunity to dive deeper into the rules and regulations of each industry and the financial reporting process in general, such as revenue recognition, lease standards, and S-1 procedures. The role of an auditor allows insight to each aspect of the financial side of an entity, internal controls, journal entry creating and posting process, and final financial report. The full panoramic view of an entity’s process will prove valuable in the next step of my career. I am dedicated to what I do and always eager to learn new things and develop new skills. I have enjoyed putting my knowledge to the test in the professional world and look forward to the next challenge ahead.
