Part of the core architecture group responsible for the company\'s technical roadmap for products. Worked with other architects to create a cloud-native analytics application. Researched new technologies like OpenTelemetry to promote observability and supportability. In addition to being a part of the core architecture group, I was the software architect for the Solutions organization where I continued to developed the vision and architecture for transforming the SL1 product into an applications development platform to dramatically improve the efficiency of the Solutions organization, enable customer developers, and to drive revenue and customer satisfaction. In both roles I promoted collaboration, best practices, software excellence, quality testing, and the adoption of modern tools and practices to other engineers, while navigating legacy code and tech debt.Worked with product managers and engineering teams to develop feature-level designs and then assisted through the development cycle to delivery.

ABOUT WILL SPEARMAN

I am an experienced software engineer, focused on design and architecture. After getting my Masters in Computer Science from Clemson University, I worked as an automation engineer on a performance analysis team at Netapp. On this team I gained experience in scripting, software development, hardware automation, testing, performance analysis, and system administration. In 2014, I entered a proposal in the Netapp WARP Innovation Challenge. My proposal was selected to enter a proof of concept phase, and was then selected to become a long-term project called CMAPLpy. As lead developer of CMAPLpy, I developed a software library in Python for extracting and analyzing Data ONTAP\'s Counter Manager Archiver data, and increased the adoption of more rigorous performance measurement techniques throughout the company. In 2015, I became a software engineer at ScienceLogic where I worked on a distributed Agile team developing Python applications for monitoring IT assets in complex business environments. I actively pushed for improved development tools such as unit testing, functional testing, and continuous integration. In 2016, I become a software architect at ScienceLogic focused on applications development on the SL1 platform. I currently work across the company to ensure SL1\'s architecture facilitates easy monitoring application development. In 2020 I began working as part of the core architecture group at ScienceLogic, working to address the long-term roadmap for ScienceLogic and next generation platforms and features.I enjoy learning new programming languages, new technologies, and new processes for being a more efficient developer. I enjoy collaborative environments as well as working on my own, and am always looking for new challenges. Don\'t give me the easy stuff.
