ReelData provides AI technologies for land-based aquaculture farms. As Head of Software Engineering, I serve to meet ReelData’s technical and non-technical needs by leading the software development team.• I lead a diverse group of software engineers using Agile; I am responsible for bi-monthly reviews, conflict resolution, interviews, and participation in hiring and termination decisions.• I use Jira to breakdown quarterly objectives into epics and assignable issues, groom the issue backlog, run weekly sprints, lead the team in estimation of work, and assigning work to individual team members.• Communication is key in this role. I serve to support the application\'s design and features through active participation in design discussions with internal and external clients and stakeholders.• I ensure products are successful by leveraging expertise in product development, release planning, product strategy, design, debugging, appropriate application of technologies. • I recognize the importance of minimizing complexity in order to deliver software reliably. Architecturally, I prefer to select and reuse proven technologies the team is familiar with to allow the team to grow comfortable with the technology stack.• I am an active developer on the team. I produce designs, implement code and tests, and perform code reviews. • I believe in supporting the people I lead, and prioritize the support of team-members with technical challenges across front-end, back-end and infrastructure components of the application.
