About William M.
William has been a Software Engineer at Facebook Inc. since March 2017. Prior to that, he was a student at The University of Texas at Austin pursuing both a BSEE and an MSE software engineering degree as part of an integrated program. His technical interests are mainly in distributed systems, big data, and system design.He has had three software-related Summer internships, a university job in customer service, and a graduate position helping teach an undergraduate algorithms course. In these positions, he has developed both his technical and interpersonal communication skills.In school, William was very involved in Eta Kappa Nu (HKN), the Electrical and Computer Engineering honor society, where he served as Treasurer, Vice President, and President over his two years with the organization. He is still involved with some of the older members who are now leading the org. He was also an active member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) at UT Austin for over 2 years.He is most comfortable with Java, Python, and C++ with experience using C# and C as well. He has experience with Apache Spark, and is familiar with several other Apache products such as Storm, Kafka, and HBase.After graduating with two degrees in December 2016, he chose to pursue an industry opportunity in software engineering.
