A Software Development Manager, I have 15+ years\' experience of delivering web-delivered and shrink-wrapped software to agreed dates and quality. Working predominantly in Microsoft environments, I provide technical leadership to developer teams working in C#/.NET, C/C++, SQL, and to test teams, in each case >5 years. A resource manager and a project manager, I manage simultaneous development projects, balancing the requirements and input of Product Owners, Project Managers, Business Analysts and other stakeholders, and co-ordinating the activities of up to 50 stakeholders and engineers. I am a Certified ScrumMaster® and I have piloted adoption of best-practice tools and processes in traditional and Agile environments. As 1st / 2nd line manager, I manage cross-functional (dev, test) and cross-geo (UK, India, USA) teams of up to 35 software engineers, recruiting and developing software engineering and management talent. Customer-facing, I work closely with Support, Product Management, Sales and System Engineering professionals, to define coherent roadmaps and backlogs, to build software that is simple to use, secure and robust in operation and ready for the enterprise. A communicator, I interact with end-users and clients face-to-face (client-embedded liaison, trainer) and electronically (technical blogs, support forum management). I am also a traditionally-published author.
