About William Cutchin
My name is Will Cutchin and I am currently a student here at Indiana University studying Computer Science with a focus in artificial intelligence. Ever since I can remember I have a natural desire to bring people together to succeed at something larger than the individuals alone. I graduated from Fossil Ridge High School in Fort Collins Colorado in 2019 with honors, participating in over four honors societies and holding the position of president of the largest Future Business Leaders of America chapter in North West Colorado. My love of collaborative work settings and the need for challenging work put me as a Research Intern at the Orthopedic Bioengineering Research Lab where I spent almost all of my time during my summer of junior year in high school. Here I witnessed the power of diversity and how individuals’ unique talents can be efficiently utilized. I was truly inspired and privileged to witness my professor demonstrate effective leadership. After my experience there I immediately changed my perception of leadership and how I should conduct myself as a leader. I applied this to my position as president of our Future Business Leaders of America chapter and sought to encourage the same utilization of uniqueness in our chapter. That year we saw almost 60% of students qualify for the state level of competition and almost 20% at the national level. I give this credit to my team members who helped me roll out a new peer study program for our competitions. This again reaffirmed my belief and passion in teamwork and its possibilities. Soon I hope to see myself in the software, finance, or sales industry, allowing my creative and collaborative abilities to maximize performance in whichever environment I end up in.
