Primary Responsibilities:Serve as marketing / fan engagement primary contact for multiple Division I teams.Create comprehensive marketing plans that have increased revenue, attendance and the overall fan experience.Manage a multitude of responsibilities during games and events that include: game production, staff communication, PA script writing, uploading videoboard content, playing music, securing half time acts.Promote Appalachian State Athletics through the creation of emails, graphics, and mobile app pushes.Facilitate season and single-game ticket sales transactions, which include developing strategic plans for group rate and discounted tickets.Oversee the Junior Mountaineer Kids Club Program.Interview, hire, and supervise student interns, part-time staff and graduate assistants.Administered the marketing department budget.Three Major Highlights:1.) The first ever men\'s basketball game that I was fully in charge of was when App State hosted Auburn on Dec. 3, 2023 in front of a sold out crowd on National TV. 2.) I assisted with the set up for College Gameday when the crew came to Boone during the 2022 football season.3.) As the on field lead for football games, I helped assist getting Jason Kelce to speak to our crowd at a football game in 2024.

ABOUT WILLIE CASSTEVENS
I am originally from Winston-Salem, North Carolina but now reside in Boone, North Carolina, where I graduated Cum Laude in the spring of 2021 from Appalachian State University. I majored in Recreation Management and minored in Sports Science and Coaching with a final GPA of 3.47. One year later, I completed the New Media Literacies and Global Perspectives Graduate Certificate Program at Appalachian State University with a final GPA of a 4.0.I got my start working in the sports industry in 2017, when I helped volunteer for the Wake Forest Athletics Department. Some of my responsibilities included selling tickets, helping set up special events and helping run gameday operations.During my time as a student in Boone, I worked closely with a variety of different departments within App State Athletics. I worked as an intern in the Development Office in the spring of 2021, in addition to serving as a student equipment manager for the football team from 20••••21. While earning my graduate certificate, I assisted our strategic communications department by helping run multiple social media accounts as well as writing pregame and postgame recaps, helping set up and clean up special events, and helping lead the marketing efforts with the softball program in the spring of 2022. During the summer of 2022 I was hired by the Boone Bigfoots (a summer collegiate baseball team based in Boone, NC) as the Director of Baseball Operations.In August of 2022, I was hired by App State Athletics as the Athletics Administrative Assistant. In this role I worked closely with marketing and gameday operations. I was the primary marketing lead for App State Soccer, Wrestling, and Softball. I primarily helped with football gameday operations. In May of 2023 I was promoted to Assistant Director of Marketing for App State Athletics.Some other interests of mine include: volunteering, fly fishing, hiking, skiing, reading, listening to music/podcasts, attending sporting events and concerts, and spending time with friends and family.
