ABOUT WILLIAM WILSON
I’m currently leading the early-stage feasibility work for The Crux Grimsby CIC, a community-focused project exploring how climbing, physical activity and heritage-led regeneration could come together in Grimsby.With permission from North East Lincolnshire Council, I am exploring the feasibility of repurposing Victoria Mills Silo, a Grade II listed industrial building, to understand whether it could be sensitively reused for community benefit while respecting its heritage significance and surrounding residents.I’m working alongside architects, heritage advisors, local authorities and community organisations to assess viability, conservation considerations, access, and long-term sustainability. This work is focused on understanding the building, its constraints and opportunities, and how any future use could deliver genuine public value.I have served in the British Army for almost 20 years and am a qualified climbing instructor with a long-standing background in mountaineering and outdoor education. My motivation is rooted in improving access to physical activity, supporting wellbeing, and contributing positively to the future of an important local building.I’m keen to connect with people working in heritage, conservation, community development, youth work, sport and regeneration, particularly those with a connection to North East Lincolnshire.
