I serve as the Chief of Police and responsible for the command and control for all law enforcement in a geographic area of responsibility. Responsible for the total operation, direction, planning, evaluation, and control of the Police and Security Section in matters relating to the security and safeguarding of personnel, property, assets, and materials from theft, loss, misuse, fraud, or sabotage. I delegate to subordinate supervisors the authority for enforcement of Federal and appropriate state and local criminal codes and VA regulations originating in Federal statues for physical protection of all personnel, the protections of all civil rights, and the preservation of the peaceful environment on all property owned and controlled by the VA.I develop policies and procedures that govern Security and Law Enforcement concerns of the medical center. I establish a Security Program that supports the Security Management Plan of the Medical Center and serves as the technical advisor on all security issues to the Chief Executive Officer. I am responsible on a regular and recurring basis for providing guidance to other facility service chiefs and/or upper management officials in all aspects of security and law enforcement activity at this VA medical center and its associated units as described above. I plan and advises on security needs and problems, interprets Departmental security and law enforcement guidelines, and issues instructions on methods and procedures for application of these initiatives.I employ Police and Security skills and ensure subordinates are conducting vigorous and inquisitive patrol activities. I assure random patrol patterns, meet special protective service requirements, and provide maximum visibility in corridors, wards, stairwells, parking lots, and admissions to deter against crime and provide a secure environment for the employees, patients and visitors.

With an illustrious 25-year career as a Law Enforcement Officer, I currently hold the position of Chief of Police for the V.A. Central Ohio Healthcare System in Columbus, Ohio, a role I\'ve passionately undertaken since January 2016. My journey includes an 11-year tenure as a proud Veteran of both the United States Army and the United States Air Force.Commencing my V.A. career at the Atlanta VAMC post-military service, I\'ve transitioned through diverse roles, ranging from Police Officer to Instructor, Criminal Investigator, Lieutenant, Captain, and Deputy Chief. This multifaceted experience reflects my comprehensive understanding of the intricacies within the law enforcement and healthcare domains.Actively engaged in various mental health initiatives, I\'ve spearheaded the development of the Veterans in Crisis Training and Veterans Mobile Evaluation Team (VMET) in Central Ohio. This innovative program empowers First Responders with essential information and skills to address mental health symptoms encountered during their service. Recognizing the challenges faced by these professionals, the program also incorporates crucial elements of self-care and the identification of potential issues among colleagues.My unwavering commitment lies in fostering positive interactions between First Responders and Veterans, with a paramount focus on reducing the alarming suicide rates within these communities. This dedication extends beyond duty, reflecting a profound commitment to the well-being and resilience of those I serve.
